Top Tips For Dealing With Your Period

The dreaded PMT, mood swings, food cravings, sore boobs, bloated and everything else that comes with it!  That feeling that only 2 weeks of the month go well…….. let me share my top tips for dealing with your period………

get to know yourself

Learn!!  Track your cycle, get to know yourself and what happens and when……you can start seeing patterns of behaviour, when the PMS kicks in, when the irrational thoughts start……use an app, track moods, when cravings start, cycle length…….

get real with yourself

Get real with yourself!  You haven’t gained weight!!!!!!!! You are having your menstrual cycle!  Guess what? It’s pretty normal to weigh and measure more at this time.  Most of us can relate to feeling like we have gained 10 stone!!  Top tip ;  don’t weigh yourself on and around your period!

 

get the carbs in!!

Eat more carbs!!  I encourage my ladies to up their carb intake a couple of days before and on their period……..rather than fighting “hunger” Or “cravings” and then bingeing on rubbish!! 

find out why!

There is a reason why your symptoms are problematic…….  Lifestyle, what we eat, movement, training, stress management and supplementation will ALL dramatically improve your cycle!!!!!  This does NOT include crash dieting and excessive training……actually this will probably make your symptoms worse

rest!!!!!!

Rest on day 1!  One big rule for me is NO TRAINING on day 1 of my period, that day is for REST / RECOVERY.  Be kind to your body, it’s busy doing other things.  Move, stay active and eat good nutritious food!
